The Monolith 3D Front Elevation Study
An architectural 3D exterior visualization and working facade package that transforms a 38-foot street frontage using interlocking board-formed concrete volumes, silver travertine slabs, and operable matte-black steel louvers.

01. Beyond Decorative Renders: Buildable Facade Architecture
Many 3D front elevation designs fail during on-site construction because they rely on unrealistic thin floating slabs, unobtainable imported materials, or un-dimensioned projections that local masons cannot reproduce. Commissioned by an overseas Pakistani homeowner building on a 38'-0" × 70'-0" (12 Marla) plot in Canal View Housing, Kamalia, The Monolith 3D Front Elevation Study bridges photorealistic visualization with millimeter-accurate facade engineering.
Areesh Architecture & Builders designed the exterior massing around three interlocking planes:
- A grounded horizontal boundary wall and porch portal clad in bush-hammered charcoal granite.
- A soaring vertical stair-tower monolith cast in board-formed fair-faced concrete.
- A cantilevered first-floor bedroom volume wrapped in honed silver travertine and shielded by
42vertical matte-black steel louvers.
02. Material Palette & Weathering Resilience
Punjab's climate subjects building exteriors to intense ultraviolet radiation, monsoon wind-driven rain, and seasonal dust storms. Every material in this 3D elevation package was selected for zero-peel durability and local availability:
| Elevation Zone | Material & Specification | Visual & Functional Role |
| :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Primary Vertical Monolith | Cast-in-place board-formed concrete (or 18mm grooved fair-faced cementitious render with clear matte sealer) | Anchors the composition with tactile, maintenance-free brutalist texture |
| First-Floor Feature Plane | Dry-cladded 20mm Silver Travertine stone slabs on galvanized Z-brackets | Adds warm geological veining that contrasts with the cool grey concrete |
| Solar Screening Array | 50mm × 100mm hollow rectangular MS box-section fins coated in Jotun Jotashield matte charcoal | Provides privacy from the street while allowing terrace air circulation |
| Architectural Glazing | Floor-to-ceiling black powder-coated aluminum frames (1.6mm gauge) with 8mm tinted tempered glass | Maximizes verticality and clean shadow lines |
03. Nighttime Architectural Lighting Design
A front elevation should look as commanding after sunset as it does at noon. Instead of dotting the ceiling with harsh white spotlights, our visualization and electrical facade sheet specified:
- 2700K Warm Grazing Linear Profiles: Recessed into the underside of the first-floor cantilever slab inside extruded aluminum channels with opal diffusers (
IP67weatherproof rating). - Up-Down Narrow-Beam Sconces (
15°beam angle): Mounted on the travertine piers to emphasize vertical texture without causing light pollution into bedroom windows. - Backlit House Number & Boundary Reveal: A floating matte-steel address plaque (
PLOT 42-B) backlit with concealed warm LED tape along the gate pillar.
04. What the Client Received
Alongside six 4K photorealistic perspective views (Daylight, Dusk, Night, Street-Level Eye View, Bird's-Eye Massing, and Gate Detail), we delivered a dimensioned 2D Elevation Working Sheet (DWG-3DE-508) detailing every projection depth (1'-6", 3'-0", 4'-6"), plaster groove spacing (4" on center), and steel fabrication section—ensuring the built house matched the 3D render down to the last millimeter.
